Coloring of our opening !

Hello, Hello, Hello!

In this post I want to speak about the coloration of our film opening.

In any production, conveying the tone/mood efficiently is important. This can be done in numerous ways. One way that my partner and I want to focus on is the coloring/hue of our opening. Since our genre is Horror/Thriller, we felt that adding an overall dark tint and lowering the saturation will have an increasingly positive effect on conveying the mood.

Taylor Wolf (My partner) has a program on her computer called Magic Bullet Looks. This program allows you to add different coloring and tints to your project. We both feel that this will definitely help us achieve the correct mood we desire.

A production that utilized color alteration is The Matrix and Transformers. The Matrix utilized this technique to give the production a more authentic feel. An example is below.

Transformers also did this by changing the color of the robots in the movie from black and gray to turquoise and orange. This aided in conveying to the audience that these autobots were foreign and alien like. An example of this is below.

Side note:

Tomorrow (Monday, March 26) we start filming and i'm very excited! Once we begin the editing process i'm positive this post will come in handy and will be on my mind.
