Production and Character Development Research

Hello!

In this posting im going to talk about Production and Character development for films with the Horror/Thriller genre.

Production:
Generally, horror film require unique lighting technique and other specifics. In a horror film it is mist important to have a Mood, Tone and Texture. As I've previously said that horror/thriller films can have a style to them. In creating this style and that classic horror mood, sound design and cinematography are crucial.

Some tips on production for this genre are:
- Shoot through things (Give your shots more texture)
- Underexpose (Can lead in creating a more mysterious feeling)
- Include a tasteful amount of haze to your scene (Add texture)
- Find unique angles and shot opportunities (Aid in creating an unsettling feeling with the audience)

Character Development:
A crucial step in developing your character is research. This research will allow you to create this character to the best of your ability. This research will also aid in a deeper understanding of who and how the character your creating reacts to its surrounding world.

Some tips on developing a character in a film:
- When introducing a new character, you want to feed the audience your wisdom about this character little by little.
- When humans express how they are feeling body language is often used. If including this into your film it can heighten the communication of the protagonists feelings.
- Providing a sense of connection for the audience is important and will improve your film as a whole. Your characters values, morals and how they perceive the world is a way to provide that opportunity for connection.
- Avoid clichés. It will destroy the development of your character through your film.

Thinking and figuring out ways to appeal to your target audience also plays a crucial part in production and character development.

More to come,
